 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE SCHOOL (2012-13)

 (1) Kendriya Vidyalayas are centres of excellence and believe in imparting quality education to all, irrespective of caste,creed,community,gender and place.Set up in 1973 and situated in the Army Cantonment Area, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Barrackpore (Army) has progressed substantially. Since then we have never looked back. New plans and strategies are always underway to ensure better facilities, better ambience, better choices and above all better education to our children. The efforts of the members of the staff are second to none for making the year eventful. Professional development of teachers by way of In-service Training courses is held for updating their knowledge and bringing awareness about latest methodology and technology of students. The desired changes in the academic attitude and aptitude of the teachers are brought about with timely and proper guidance by senior educationists, specialists, experts and periodic inspections.  At present, we have 2330 students and 72 members of staff. For your kind information sir at present there are 1090 Kendriya vidyalayas as on 01-08-2012 all over the country  including Kendriya vidylayas in Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran. There are about 11 lac students  and 49 thousand employees .Now a days KVs are spread over even  in the remotest part of the country like Kargil ,Leh etc.

(2) Academic Achievements:
                (a) The result for class 10th for the session 2011-12 was 100 % with 21 students having qualified with  CGPA 10 out of 10.
                (b) I would like to throw light on the Board Results for class 12th science, commerce and humanities.

                                 12th science- 96.47 %
                                12th commerce-95.45 %
                                12th humanities-96.77 %

C) The  internal Results of the Vidyalaya was also good including 100% result from class I to IX .

                               
               

(D) To make the students global citizens the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has introduced many foreign languages  such as French, Chinese ,German etc. . German language has been introduced from class 6th to 8th as an optional subject in this vidyalaya.

(3) CCA activities : CCA activities are part and parcel of the vidyalaya activities, simply because they aim at tapping the hidden potential of the students and making them the responsible  future able citizens of India. Throughout the year the CCA Activities that were held included Inter-house Competitions, celebration of important days and outdoor activities.

(4) (a) Achievements in Games & Sports: We promote games and sports, simply because we want the future citizens of our country to be physically fit and mentally alert to shoulder the responsibilities responsibly in the years to come. I feel extremely delighted to say that 159 students of our school participated in the Regional level Sports and Games Meet,2012. Apart from this, 48 and 06  students participated in the National and SGFI level respectively.

(4) (b) Scouts and Guides Activities are also going on in a very planned and nice way. In Dwitiya Sopan testing camp ,16 Scouts and 16 Guides participated and all of them qualified. In Tritiya Sopan testing camp 10 Scouts and 10 Guides participated and all of them qualified. The Rajya Puraskar Testing camp 3 Scouts participated at KV No 2 Kharagpur and 6 Guides participated at KV Santragachi and all of them qualified.In Rashtrapati Testing Camp which was held at National Youth Complex,Gadpuri,Haryana, 2 Scouts  and 7 Guides participated. Moreover, 6 Cubs and 6 Bulbuls attended the Cub-Bulbul Utsav at KV No1 Ishapore on 17/11/2012. Here I would also like to add that our students are not lagging behind even in the field of culture and art. Recently, 2 bright students of our vidyalaya have been selected for the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training Scholarship under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and those promising students are Sneha Das, class viii for Nazrul Geeti(Vocal Music) and Rituparna Paul, class vii for Drama.

(5) Activities in the primary section:
                In order to bring about the all-round development of the primary students, we hold/conduct Inter-house competitions, exhibitions and celebration of important days. when the new academic session begins, we organize a readiness programs for class I, which helps them to adjust with the new atmosphere. 

(6) Career Counseling Sessions were conducted by eminent persons for the students of XI  and XII in order to apprise them with different career options. Apart from this, counseling sessions were also conducted for the students of our school. Personality development and awareness towards society as a whole is the main motto in this regard. Staff members also provide extra support to the students in building their character and give counseling wherever and whenever required. Regular  Parent – Teacher meetings  help us to apprise the parents about the progress of their ward. Counseling for stress management was done by the experts for classes IX and XI.

(6) Medical facilities: A  sound mind dwells in a sound body. General medical check up is being done by the doctor  deployed for students . Medical reports are being sent to the parents for  kind information and necessary  compliance.In addition to that doctor and nurse  take care of the medical health of the children.They are always available in the school premises during school hours.

(7) Infrastructural facilities:
                We have upgraded our infrastructure facilities including our computer labs, science labs and library. Currently, we have a Physics lab, Chemistry lab, Bio lab, two computer labs with internet facilities and a fully equipped library with automation. Under the smart class project, we have converted 10 classes into digitally smart classes by installing e-learning equipments iteractive boards, visualiusers etc.

(8) We also have regular music, dance, work experience and yoga classes with a view to inculcate among students the appreciation towards fine arts and to make them socially productive.

(9) We have a sincere, hardworking and devoted group of teachers, who keep on bringing laurels to the school through their hard  work. In recognition of their hard work, they are also honoured by KVS our parent organization. Recently Shri C. S. Saha, TGT (Maths) was honoured with Incentive award at a colourful event organized by the KVS regional Office,Kolkata on 15th December 2012 at Rabindra Bhawan ,Dum Dum.

(10) Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation under the able  guidance of KVS, Our Parent Oraganisation is being followed in all the Kendriya Vidyalayas across India and abroad as well. The new system of CCE basically aims at minimizing the load of the students, reforming the Examination system and doing away with the rote learning. The most important part of CCE is that it takes into account every aspect related to education. Under the system, attitude, aptitude, behavior, studies, participation in cca,  games and sports have been emphasized in order to lead to holistic development of a child.
